Your Evening Sift
12/13/2011

TGIF, readers! I'm headed out so here's your evening Sift. I've also updated the SFDB Weekend Widget in the right sidebar for your. Enjoy your evenings.

A- Walk through the swamp with Go Hydrology! and learn something.

B- Searching for Signs leads a very conservative discussion of presidential candidates and morality.

Newt Gingrich has publicly stated his regret for his past extramarital affairs. Most importantly, he asked for and received forgiveness from his Creator through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (a wonderful blessing of the Catholic Church). No, it’s not a guarantee and it doesn’t shield Gingrich from screwing up again. What it DOES show is a serious, humble and grace-filled commitment to not go down that road again. A true reflection of character, IMO.
C- South Florida Lawyers makes me laugh.

D- South Beach Condo Blog reports that the Setai Penthouse 'A' has sold for a record-breaking amount.
Previously described as the “mack daddy” of Penthouses in Miami Beach- Penthouse ‘A’ at The Setai South Beach closed yesterday for a record-setting $21.5M and brokered by Eloy Carmenate of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty.
E- The Florida legislature is apparently frightened of the laws that they have passed, according to Obalesque.
This is their idea, and they’re scared shitless. These are the people who took their marching orders from the NRA and passed a law that prohibits a psychiatrist from asking a suicidal patient and his family about firearms in the house. Now they’re allowing people — Floridians, no less; some of the most violent, unsophisticated, and brain-dead citizens in the nation — to cheerfully pack heat at parks, beaches, city and county government buildings, school district buildings, and best of all, bars.

And their own reaction? Special protection for themselves at the workplace. At our expense, of course.
F- Culture Designers takes their camera to the Yelle concert.
Midway through the show, I couldn’t ignore the fact that I was dancing and singing (as best I could) to lyrics I didn’t understand and even worse, couldn’t properly pronounce while surrounded by several fluent Parisians who knew exactly what was going on.
G- Free food at the grand opening of Hogzilla on South Beach, Eater Miami says.

H- Here's some holiday cocktail recipes from South Florida Food and Wine.
I dug up some recipes of fancy new favorites that I’ve been making and decided to share with all of you. Depending on what your spirit of choice is I’m sure you’ll find some intrest in the below cocktails as we’ve got vodka, pisco, tequila and bourbon. Cheers!
I- Redland Rambles shows us what to expect for CSA Share Week #3.
